Meet Our 2022 Team

Meet our passionate guides and instructors for the 2022 kayaking season! We come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and places, but we all share a profound love of paddle sports and outdoor adventure. Halfmoon Sea Kayak’s partner. Paddle Canada Instructor. 24 years on the Sunshine Coast with a marine background from the west coast tug boat industry. Cam has paddled all over coastal British Columbia including Atlin Lake, Haida Gwaii, Hakai Pass and the Northern Gulf Islands.


Charla grew up paddling on Georgian Bay in Ontario, working as an outdoor education facilitator and Paddle Canada canoe instructor. She holds an Outdoor Adventure Naturalist diploma, a Paddle Canada sea kayak instructor certification, and a Wilderness First Responder certification. Charla enjoys SUP surfing, forest foraging, hula hooping, and teaching Nordic skiing. She has been guiding and teaching on the Sunshine Coast since 2019.


Jill is from Thunder Bay, in the heart of northwestern Ontario. and grew up paddling on Lake Superior. She is currently completing her Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation at Lakehead University and spends her winters working as an alpine ski instructor. She is excited to bring her combined passion for people and the natural world to the Halfmoon team. When she’s not on the water, Jill enjoys climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and backcountry camping.


Kassandra grew up in the Lower Mainland competitively swimming and lifeguarding. She is a certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, and hold Paddle Canada level one certification. She is currently in the process of becoming a Physical Oceanographer and specializes in knowledge about the oceanographic conditions in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Her hobbies include backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking.

Mariah Kayak Guide


Mariah grew up paddling rivers in southern Ontario and working as an outdoor education facilitator. She holds a community development and environmental studies degree, Paddle Canada level one and two certifications, and an advanced wilderness first aid certification. Mariah enjoys kayak tripping, hiking, slacklining, and climbing.


Tait grew up paddling canoes and kayaks on the many rivers and lakes of southern Ontario, spending a lot of his time in and around Algonquin Park. He currently resides in Thunder Bay, ON while completing his Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation at Lakehead University. When he’s not paddling you can find him rock or ice climbing, hiking, camping, snowboarding or cross country skiing.
