Meet our passionate guides and instructors for the 2022 kayaking season! We come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and places, but we all share a profound love of paddle sports and outdoor adventure. A Halfmoon Sea Kayaks partner and Paddle Canada instructor, Cam has spent the last 24 years paddling on the Sunshine Coast. He comes from an extensive marine background in the West Coast tug boat industry and has paddled all over coastal British Columbia, including Atlin Lake, Haida Gwaii, Hakai Pass, and the Northern Gulf Islands.
Charla grew up paddling on Georgian Bay in Ontario, and working as an outdoor education facilitator and Paddle Canada canoe instructor. She holds an Outdoor Adventure Naturalist diploma, a Paddle Canada sea kayak instructor certification, Paddle Canada Level Three Sea Kayak Skills certification, and a Wilderness First Responder certification. Charla enjoys SUP surfing, forest foraging, hula hooping, and teaching Nordic skiing. She has been guiding and teaching on the Sunshine Coast since 2019.
Kassandra grew up in the Lower Mainland competitively swimming and lifeguarding. She is a certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, and holds a Paddle Canada level one certification, and a Paddle Canada Basic SUP Skills Instructor. She is currently in the process of becoming a Physical Oceanographer and specializes in knowledge about the oceanographic conditions in the Labrador Sea. Her hobbies include backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. She has been instructing on the Sunshine Coast since 2021.
Mariah grew up paddling rivers in southern Ontario and working as an outdoor education facilitator. She holds a community development and environmental studies degree, Paddle Canada Level Two Sea Kayak Skills certification, and an advanced wilderness first aid certification. Mariah enjoys kayak tripping, hiking, slacklining, and climbing. She has been guiding on the Sunshine Coast since 2021.
Kathleen grew up in Quebec and spent all her summers out on the water paddling, swimming, and working at summer camps as an Outdoor Education Facilitator. She holds a degree in Community Development, a diploma in Community Recreation and Leadership Training, her Bronze Cross Certification, and general First Aid training. Kathleen enjoys paddling, hiking, caving, and reading a good book by the ocean.
