OUR GUIDES AND INSTRUCTORS
Meet our passionate guides and instructors for the 2023 paddling season! We come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and places, but we all share a profound love of paddle sports and outdoor adventure. If you are interested in employment with Halfmoon Sea Kayaks for the 2023 season, or future seasons, follow this link to our current available positions.
A Halfmoon Sea Kayaks partner and Paddle Canada instructor, Cam has spent the last 24 years paddling on the Sunshine Coast. He comes from an extensive marine background in the West Coast tug boat industry and has paddled all over coastal British Columbia, including Atlin Lake, Haida Gwaii, Hakai Pass, and the Northern Gulf Islands.
Charla grew up paddling on Georgian Bay in Ontario working as an outdoor education facilitator and Paddle Canada canoe instructor. She holds an Outdoor Adventure Naturalist diploma, a Paddle Canada sea kayak instructor certification, Paddle Canada Level Three Sea Kayak Skills certification, and a Wilderness First Responder certification. Charla enjoys SUP surfing, forest foraging, hula hooping, and teaching Nordic skiing. She has been guiding and teaching on the Sunshine Coast since 2019.
Hallie grew up in Perth Ontario and has spent many of her summers working in retail, at cafes and immersing herself in nature as much as possible. She is enjoying her first summer on the Sunshine Coast between semesters at Queen’s University- where she majors in Environmental Studies. She is a beginner kayaker and is eager to improve her abilities on the water and explore all that this wonderful coast has to offer. Hallie is fresh to the Halfmoon Sea Kayaks’ crew and is stoked to be working with us for the course of the summer! Outside of work Hallie spends her free time chilling in the forest, chasing waterfalls, and cruising around the coast!
Kassandra grew up in the Lower Mainland competitively swimming and lifeguarding. She is a certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, and holds a Paddle Canada level one certification, and a Paddle Canada Basic SUP Skills Instructor. She is currently in the process of becoming a Physical Oceanographer and specializes in knowledge about the oceanographic conditions in the Labrador Sea. Her hobbies include backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. She has been instructing on the Sunshine Coast since 2021.
Mariah grew up paddling rivers in southern Ontario and working as an outdoor education facilitator. She holds a community development and environmental studies degree, Paddle Canada Level Two Sea Kayak Skills certification, and an advanced wilderness first aid certification. Mariah enjoys kayak tripping, hiking, slacklining, and climbing. She has been guiding on the Sunshine Coast since 2021.

Our waterfront rental location is at the head of Sechelt Inlet just off the Sunshine Coast highway and directly adjacent to Harbor Air Seaplanes. Launch boats directly from our beach or car-top to other locations throughout the Inland and Salish Seas. Click here for more FAQ’s about our location.
