What additional gear is included with equipment rentals?
All the safety gear required by the Canadian Coast Guard and Transport Canada is outfitted with every rental. Kayaks are equipped with bilge pumps, spare paddles, paddle floats, throwing lines, personal floatation devices and spray skirts. Canoes are equipped with a bailing device, spare paddles, throwing lines and personal floatation devices. SUP boards are equipped with ankle leashes and personal floatation devices.
Do I need a guide if I have never kayaked before?
We have had many first time kayakers rent kayaks with out a guide for day and multi day rentals. This decision is largely going to be yours. Summer kayaking is, for the most part, a safe activity when the weather forecasts are stable and you don't paddle outside of your own skill and tolerance levels. Most of our rentals go unguided through the summer months but we do have certified guides available for invaluable local knowledge and extra safety gear including VHF, first aid, marine charts etc.

Rentals returned late will be charged $20/seat/hour. Our kayaks are in high demand in the summer months and will more than likely have paddler's waiting your return.
If rental equipment is lost/stolen/damaged, renters will be responsible for a full retail charge of the equipment lost/stolen/damaged or a shop rate of $30/hour, parts, and supplies for repairs.
Can we transport the kayaks to other locations?
Yes. If you have a medium sized car or larger you can transport 2 kayaks any where on the coast to start your trip. We provide foam blocks and straps to protect your vehicles. A roof rack is not required. For larger groups it is affordable to hire our truck/trailer/driver to transport up to 12 kayaks.
